Florida's Gulf Coast Beaches - Pinellas County
A trip to Florida simply isn't complete, if
you haven't dipped your toes into the warm waters that surround the
state. And perhaps the best part of being in the sunshine state
is, you're never
more than a couple of hours away from a beach.
While it's hard to find a spot along the Gulf of Mexico, or the
Atlantic, that isn't beautiful in its own special way, you should be
aware that you don't find the same thing at every beach. There are
many different places that provide many different experiences.
My goal on these next few pages is to tell
you about a few of the special beaches I've discovered. Since I've
been living on Florida's west coast for quite a few years now, I'm
partial to the sandy shores of Pinellas County. While I might be
biased, I can make a good argument.
First, Pinellas County is a quick 90
minute
drive down Interstate 4 from Orlando. Of course, if
you're
vacationing in O-town, the Atlantic coast is also a short drive away.
Which brings me to my second reason: the waves on Gulf beaches are
usually much calmer than what you'll find on the east coast. That
might not appeal to surfers, but anyone planning on wading or swimming
will appreciate it.
Need more reasons to visit? Check out
these destinations, all within a 45 minute drive of one another, near
St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida. If I can't convince you
with these photos, you probably had already made up your mind before you
arrived here.
