Begin The Trip Now | Day-By-Day Descriptions | Home
This is an 11-day trip, but it could easily be shortened, since you're never very far from the start and endpoint, Calgary. The route first heads south, to Waterton Lakes National Park, for three nights in that area. Then, it heads west, and north, through British Columbia, passing through Kootenay National Park. It re-enters Alberta near Lake Louise, then spends a couple of days in the Banff/Canmore area, before heading up and down the Icefields Parkway. Most importantly, it's all during the first week of spring -- essentially, wintertime in the Canadian Rockies.
