The Guide to Mount Rainier National Park

For me, a Floridian, Washington State is about as far away as I can get from home, and stay within the contiguous 48 states.  That must be the reason I overlooked Washington for so long.  Sure, I made a 6-night visit to the area in 2004, but even then, I bypassed the state's defining feature: Mount Rainier. 

In 2011, I decided to right this wrong in the most dramatic fashion possible: with not one, but two trips to the opposite corner of the country, within the span of one month.  The first trip, I made a loop around the state, but still managed to devote two full days to Mount Rainier.  Three weeks later, I returned, and spent an entire week, almost exclusively in, and around, the park.
