After surviving the long drive down Interstate 75 from Detroit, Toledo provides a welcome break from the freeway. Hop off and spend a few minutes exploring its downtown. At the center is the Lucas County Courthouse, which dates back to 1897.
For a small city, Toledo has a nice skyline, and you can get the best view of it from the south side of the Maumee River.
There's a park here, between the Main Street and Clayton Street bridges. Hop out of the car at this circular bay for a nice photo opportunity...
... then drive further down the park road (Boers-Boyer Way), to pass directly beneath the Anthony Wayne Bridge, a.k.a. the "High Level" bridge. Clayton Street is on the Toledo side, Woodville Road is on the other end. The Anthony Wayne Bridge was built in 1931.
